In 2013, newborn Kaiba Gionfriddo, then only six weeks old with a collapsed trachea, was saved by a bronchial stent. The stent was specially printed by two researchers at the University of Michigan in the United States. The stent got him breathing again, before degrading and allowing the child to develop normally.
